EU Parliament Seeks €1 Million for Blockchain Research
The European Parliament is looking for €1m to fund a task force that would focus on the study of blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, a project that was proposed by MEP Jakob von Weizsäcker and approved months ago. The MEP wrote:
"This pilot project aims at creating a Task Force, staffed with regulatory and technical experts, in order to build up technical expertise, regulators capacity and develop use cases, especially for governmental applications, in the field of distributed ledger technology (DLT) as proposed in the Resolution of the European Parliament on virtual currencies."

Kim Dotcom's Hearing Will Be Streamed On YouTube
Kim Dotcom, founder of Megaupload and Bitcoin enthusiast is facing an American extradition legal hearing and it will be streamed live on YouTube. Kim Dotcom is currently developing a Bitcoin business and wallet within Megaupload 2.0 called Bitcache, a potential Bitcoin wallet for your Megaupload account. Kim Dotcom said, regarding the Judge's decision to allow the trial to be streamed on youtube:
"I will post the live streaming link here ASAP. This is breaking new ground. New Zealand at the forefront of transparent Justice! Leadership!"

US Health Department Selects 15 Blockchain Research Contest Winners
A whitepaper contest was held by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), in order to explore how blockchain technology can be used in the healthcare system. 15 winners were chosen out of the +70 submissions. National coordinator Vindell Washington stated:
"We are thrilled by the incredible amount of interest in this challenge. While many know about Blockchain technology's uses for digital currency purposes, the challenge submissions show its exciting potential for new, innovative uses in health care."
