Nasdaq Declares Blockchain Voting Trial a ‘Success’

Nasdaq has released its conclusions about a blockchain e-voting trial it conducted in Estonia last year. The report details the project that was created to reduce both the complexity and cost of organizing shareholder votes as part of a bid to boost overall participation. The exchange operator concluded that te model "successfully demonstrated how a blockchain could be used for something other than transaction settlement." Nasdaq describes the system:

"The system uses the blockchain in the traditional way to record the ownership of securities as reported by the CSD. Based on those holdings, the system also issues voting right assets and voting token assets for each shareholder. A user may spend voting tokens to cast their votes on each meeting agenda item if they also own the voting right asset."

Bitcoin Featured on China’s “Most Influential” TV Show

Bitcoin was the prime subject of debate in China’s “most cutting-edge and most influential financial talk show,” a highly popular national TV segment with millions of viewers. The topic of debate wass “Bitcoin, fortune maker or Ponzi scheme?” featuring professor Larry Hsien Ping Lang, described as China’s most influential economist. A controversial figure in the country who considers bitcoin worthless. However, another Chinese economist, who took part in the show, publicly stated:

“Bitcoin is the real currency, and it marks the future of currency”

Fiverr No Longer Accepts Bitcoin

Fiverr, the world’s leading online freelance services website that offers “gigs” for as low as $5 USD, is no longer accepting Bitcoins as a method of payment. The payment options have been limited to Paypal and Credit card transactions. Fiverr's customer service stated:

“Fiverr is no longer accepting Bitcoins as a method of payment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We do offer Paypal and Credit card transactions[...]This is purely a business decision. Unfortunately, I am unable to elaborate further."

Ether Classic is up 0.53% to Ƀ 0.001510 with volumes of 606 BTC and flat against the dollar at $1.38.

Dash is down 3.23% at Ƀ 0.01586 with 2k BTC volume and down 3.35% against the dollar at $14.44.
