Market Update

Yesterday, the price of Bitcoin has hit yet another all-time high, reaching $8,260 for the first time. At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $8,214, representing a gain of 2% in the last 24 hours. More than $880 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market, representing a 23.5% share of daily volume, second to the JPY at 59.5%.

Currently sitting at $365.65, the Ethereum price has risen 2.2% in the last 24 hours. Over $240M worth of Ether were exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 34.5% market share of the daily trading volume.

CBOE Releases New Details on Bitcoin Futures Contracts

CBOE has released early specifications for its planned Bitcoin futures product in a blog post. The company published some of the technical details for its futures contract, which will be listed under the symbol XBT, pending approval from U.S. regulators.

Although the exact listing date isn't available, CBOE's website had other points of interest related to the XBT listing, including the indication that both weekly and quarterly contracts will be available. Additionally, CBOE's Russel Rhoads wrote that readers may want to avoid trying to predict how futures prices will relate to today's price. Rhoads stated:

"The question I am constantly hearing is, 'How will the futures prices relate to spot bitcoin pricing,' and the best (and most honest) answer I can give is, 'I don’t know.' ... Personally, I think the best strategy is to see what the market tells us when bitcoin futures are available for trading."

Bitcoin is up 1.97% at $8,214.460 with a volume of $109.5k - $889.2M on the USD pairs.

Litecoin is down 0.61% against the dollar for the day at $71.23 and down 2.71% to Ƀ0.008645 on volumes of Ƀ5.6k.

Ether is up 0.27% against Bitcoin at Ƀ0.04452 per Ether and up 2.27% against the dollar to $365.65 with average volume Ƀ26.6k on the ETH/BTC pair.

Dash is up 3.57% at Ƀ0.05741 with Ƀ9.9k volume and up 5.63% against the dollar at $471.56.

Ripple is down 1.82% to Ƀ0.00002912 with volumes of Ƀ4.7k and down 0.08% against the dollar at $0.2382.

Zcash is down 3.07% for the day to Ƀ0.03595 per ZEC and down 1.31% against the dollar to $295.39 with an average volume of Ƀ4.2k for the 24 hour period.

Monero is up 3.64% against the dollar at $137.3 and up 1.77% against Bitcoin at Ƀ0.01671 on volumes of Ƀ4.4k.

Ether Classic is down 4.18% to Ƀ0.002198 with volumes of Ƀ2.9k and down 2.8% against the dollar at $18.02.

Bitcoin Cash is down 3.14% to Ƀ0.145 with volumes of Ƀ32.4k and down 1.2% against the dollar at $1191.44.

Waves is down 4.04% to Ƀ0.0006273 on Ƀ2.6k volume.

Stratis is down 1.82% to Ƀ0.0004207 on Ƀ846.981 volume.
