Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $8,366 representing a gain of 2.14% in the last 24 hours. More than $600 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 19.4% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 55.5% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 8.25% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $576, with over $300 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 31.5% market share of the daily trading volume.

Savedroid Says ‘Exit Scam’ Stunt is Lesson to Crypto Community

On Wednesday, German startup Savedroid, was accused of conducting an exit scam. The company's website was replaced by the “Aaand it’s gone” meme from South Park, while Savedroid founder Yassin Hankir published a tweet suggesting that he had run off with the funds.

However, yesterday Savedroid’s website came back online and Hankir published a video titled “And it’s NOT gone” explaining that the team pulled a fake exit scam and was meant to teach the cryptocurrency community a lesson about how easy could be to the Savedroid team scam their investors. The Savedroid CEO, Hankir stated:

"If we look at this market, we've seen that there is so much scamming happening... From the beginning to the very end of an ICO. And what we've seen so far has been only the tip of the iceberg."

Icelandic ‘Bitcoin Thief’ Escapes to Sweden on PM’s Plane

According to Icelandic law enforcement agencies, the man suspected of stealing 600 Bitcoin miners, Sindri Thor Stefansson, has evaded custody in Iceland. Mr Stefansson was being held in a low-security prison and managed to climb out of the window and board a passenger plane. The same plane was also taking Iceland’s prime minister according to a local media report.

The 600 Bitcoin miners were stolen from multiple data centres in Iceland and were valued at $2 million.
