Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,469 representing a gain of 1.13% in the last 24 hours. More than $470 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 23% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 13% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 3.03% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $299, with over $160 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 17% market share of the daily trading volume.

Binance Partners With LCX to Offer a Fiat-to-Crypto Exchange in Blockchain-Friendly Liechtenstein

Yesterday, cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced a partnership with Liechtenstein Cryptoassets Exchange (LCX) to form a joint venture called "Binance LCX" that would be offering fiat-to-crypto trading pairs in the Principality of Liechtenstein. According to the official announcement, Binance will provide and maintain the technology platform, while Binance LCX manages customer support, legal requirements, due diligence, KYC, AML and government communication. Furthermore, the exchange will allow the exchange of Swiss Francs (CHF) and Euros (EUR) against major cryptocurrencies pairs. Binance CEO, Chanpeng Zhao, stated:

"I believe Binance LCX will create a sustainable and reliable fiat-crypto gateway for professional and regular investors alike. I hope Binance LCX will drive new standards for usability and compliance for the blockchain industry, and we are very excited to bring the relevant experience and best practices to grow our team at Liechtenstein."

UPS Eyes Blockchain to Streamline Delivery Logistics

Yesterday, according to the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), the Georgia-based United Parcel Service (UPS) has applied for a patent that utilizes blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) to route packages throughout an international supply chain that may include multiple carriers. The patent application explains that with the current shipping logistics it is still difficult to coordinate logistics for shipments that involve more than one logistics service provider transportation network, as stated:

"[T]here may be scenarios in which it is advantageous for various logistics service providers to transport the shipment unit along different legs/segments from its origin to its destination. However, it may be difficult to coordinate the transportation of the shipment unit through the various logistics service provider transportation networks"

Crypto Wallet and DApp Explorer Toshi Rebrands to Coinbase Wallet

Cryptocurrency wallet and DApp explorer Toshi has recently rebranded to Coinbase Wallet. The company claimed that it isn’t “just a new name, but part of a larger effort to invest in products that will define the future of the decentralized web”. On an official blog post, the company also mentioned that users who have the Toshi wallet installed on their mobile devices will soon see it upgrade to Coinbase Wallet. Toshi’s Product Lead, Siddharth Coelho-Prabhu, stated:

"Coinbase Wallet is one part of our effort to accelerate the adoption of crypto and dapps around the world. We’re looking forward to keeping our community updated as we continue to build the most secure and easy to use crypto wallet in the space."

CryptoFriends will attend Blockshow next week in Las Vegas

CryptoFriends, the global blockchain and crypto events company will be in Las Vegas next week for Blockshow - Americas between 20-21 August 2018 at the Venetian hotel.

This will be the first time Blockshow has organised a US edition and the city of choice, Las Vegas, is no doubt a very exciting location for such an event. The last show which took place in Berlin in May, played host to a list of top blockchain and tech speakers including the Founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales and the CEO of TechCrunch, Mike Butcher who will once again make an appearance. This edition will be no different. Confirmations of speakers such as Bobby Lee, the co-founder of BTCC and Nouriel Roubani, a former White House Economic Advisor will make the event a very interesting and important one.
