Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,473 representing a gain of 0.27% in the last 24 hours. More than $480 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 26% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents an 11% share.

The Ethereum price has dropped 2.11% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $284, with over $130 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 17% market share of the daily trading volume.

The Alleged Head of BitConnect Asia Arrested in Delhi

Last Saturday, local media outlet DNA reported that Divyesh Darji, a vocal promoter of the BitConnect platform and coin, was detained by the police on the Delhi Airport after his arrival from Dubai. Police reported that 169 bitcoins and 8kg of gold were seized as part of the investigation. In a statement to the Times of India, Ashish Bhatia from Gujurat CID explained:

"The company was registered in the UK and had an office in Surat. They launched their own ‘bitconnect coins’ soon after demonetization. They promoted the company on social media and by holding gala functions in cities across the world. They lured investors with 60% monthly interest, and incentives in the form of ‘referral interest."

Binance: 90% of Employees Get Their Salary in BNB

According to TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington, almost all Binance employees receive their salaries in the form of BNB tokens. Arrington shared a tweet in his personal account, where he says that @Cz_binance (Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao) told him that 90% of the Binance workers receive the wages in BNB. He stated:

“Just one of the interesting things cz_binance told me this week at LCX event: 90% of binance employees choose to receive their salary in BNB tokens. Smart people.”

$87 Million In Cryptocurrency Allegedly Stolen

Three allegedly hackers from China, who have been accused of stealing $87 million in Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies were recently arrested by police officials in China, according to a news report by local news outlet Xinhua.

The three suspects where from China’s capital Beijing and its Changchun and Hunan provinces, and have been taken into police custody on August 15th, after a 30-day investigation by local authorities which start in March, after a complaint filed by a Chinese citizen with the surname Zhang.

The Chinese resident claimed that cryptocurrencies worth about $14.5 million had been stolen from his crypto account after his computer was hacked.

Education Ecosystem Announces LEDU North American Roadshow

Education Ecosystem’s LEDU North American Roadshow began this week with the first stop in Las Vegas. The team will be attending several events and meetups in major cities throughout North America as part of their roadshow. Other cities will include Seattle, Boston and Los Angeles. They will have exhibition booths as well as guest speakers at some of the events. In addition to these events, LEDU meetups and receptions will be announced on their blog and social media updates as they become finalized.
