Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,937 representing a gain of 3.33% in the last 24 hours. More than $430 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 24% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 9% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 3.38% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $285, with over $100 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has an 11% market share of the daily trading volume.

North Korea to Hold International Blockchain Conference in October

According to a recently published report, North Korea is preparing to hold a conference related to blockchain in early October. According to the Stratis Times, citing a report from the US media Radio Free Asia, the country should invite specialists in blockchain and cryptocurrencies technology from around the world to participate in the event, which will begin on the 1st of October and will last two days. The participants of the Conference will meet North Korean business officials on the 3rd of October, which will require changes in international policies since the Kim Jong-un regime has a very restricted tourism industry.

Huobi Is Seeking to Acquire Public Firm in $77 Million Deal

The cryptocurrency exchange Huobi is looking to become the largest shareholder of the public company Pantronics Holdings, based in Hong Kong. According to shareholding disclosures filed by Pantronics Holdings on the 21st of August to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company is transferring more than 221 million of its ordinary shares to Li Lin, the chairman of Huobi Group. With the disclosed amount, Li is positioned to be the owner of 73.73% of Pantronics, as the largest substantial shareholder. The transaction is being priced at HK$2.72 (or $0.35) on average per share with a total amount nearing $77 million.

Brazilian Crypto Investment Platform Atlas Hacked

According to the Investimentos Digitais Youtube channel, the Brazilian cryptocurrency investment platform Atlas has been hacked last Saturday. The hack resulted in the leak of the personal information of over 264,000 of its customers. From those 264,000 users, a total of 14,500 records of leaked data details users’ balances on the platform, their email addresses, names, and phone numbers. However, the company claims that users funds are safe. Later on, Atlas issued a statement revealing it’s going to launch an investigation into the incident while working with the proper authorities. The company stated: 

“We would like to point out that this wasn’t a bitcoin theft or a violation of our accounts in the exchanges. However, our customer base was exposed. At the time of the incident, we took immediate steps to protect the database and [the] passwords and private keys are encrypted.”
