Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,252 representing a gain of 1.14% in the last 24 hours. More than $300 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing an 8.5% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 40% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 1.02% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $436, with over $130 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has an 11.4% market share of the daily trading volume. The ETH/USDT pair represents a 51.5% share.

Bittrex To Launch World’s First Initial Convertible Coin Offering (ICCO)

Cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex and Maltese blockchain firm Palladium have reportedly been developing an “ICO 2.0 Model”. The newly proposed ICO model is called the Initial Convertible Coin Offering (ICCO) and will “give investors peace of mind and a stake in the future of virtual currencies.” The ICCO model incorporates certain ideas from the older and more established crowdfunding method known as initial public offerings (IPOs), according to Bittrex’s official blog post.

Trump's New Task Force To Take On Crypto Crime

US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order authorizing a new task force to develop guidance for crypto fraud investigations. The executive order, Task Force on Market Integrity and Consumer Fraud, will include protection for consumers in the emerging crypto market alongside traditional crimes such as money-laundering and investment schemes.

American Express is Eyeing Blockchain for a Proof-of-Payments System

Credit card giant American Express has filed a patent application for blockchain-based proof-of-payment technology. Throughout the past few months, we’ve seen the financial services company support the blockchain very publicly. Just recently, the company deployed Hyperledger’s blockchain technology to upgrade its Membership Rewards program, becoming the first major U.S. financial services company to do so.

Bitcoin Cash is up 2.28% to Ƀ0.1121 with volumes of Ƀ17.0k and up 3.42% against the dollar at $701.47.
