Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,536 representing a loss of 4.72% in the last 24 hours. More than $500 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 16.7% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 58.9% share.

The Ethereum price has dropped 10.71% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $479, with over $250 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 28.9% market share of the daily trading volume.

Coinbase Index Fund Now Open

The Coinbase Index Fund, which was first announced last month, is now open for investment. According to the company, the fund will now begin accepting U.S investors who wish to invest $250,000 to $20M. On an official blog post, Coinbase's Product Lead Reuben Bramanathan stated:

"Coinbase Index Fund gives investors exposure to all assets listed on our exchange, weighted by market capitalization. At this stage, Coinbase Index Fund is only open to US-resident accredited investors. We’re working on launching more funds which are accessible to all investors and cover a broader range of digital assets."

Tron Founder Justin Sun Acquires BitTorrent

Justin Sun, the founder of the cryptocurrency startup Tron, has reportedly acquired Bittorrent Inc. In accordance with Variety, an American magazine and website, the acquisition occurred last week. However, the financial details of the deal weren’t made publicly available as both parties haven’t officially announced the acquisition yet.

Crypto Exchange Buda Subject of Sudden Banking Embargo in Colombia

Latin American Bitcoin exchange Buda became the subject of a financial blockade from Colombian banking institutions. According to the Buda's CEO, Alejandro Beltran, the Bancolombia, Davivienda, and BBVA have unexpectedly terminated all the financial services provided to the exchange and consequently disrupted the customer withdrawals. Despite the disruptions to exchange's operations the company guarantee that the customers' funds are safely protected.
