Security hole in cryptocurrency wallets discovered by Americas Cardroom CEO

Leading online poker room Americas Cardroom recently discovered a smartphone security issue for anyone who uses cryptocurrency wallets. The security issue has nothing to do with online poker and could affect cryptocurrency holders around the world.

In a video posted by the Winning Poker Network (the parent company of popular cryptocurrency poker site Americas Cardroom), CEO Phil Nagy details the security issue he discovered while using a predictive keyboard on his smartphone. The security issue has to do with cryptocurrency holders who use smartphone crypto wallets for iPhone or Android and how SEED words interact with predictive keyboards.

Upon restoring a cryptocurrency wallet using SEED words, it’s possible that a smartphone’s artificial intelligence could inadvertently predict the remaining SEED words, thereby giving hackers easy access to all cryptocurrency in the wallet.

In the video, Nagy notes that while going about his daily business on his iPhone, he happened to type a word that matched his first SEED word. His phone’s artificial intelligence then suggested the remaining 11 words in his SEED sequence.

Nagy notes that if cryptocurrency users are going to restore their wallet using SEED words, it’s a smart idea to turn off the predictive text feature to prevent SEED words from falling into the wrong hands.

Americas Cardroom is the leading international cryptocurrency poker site, accepting over 60 of for deposits and withdrawals.

Players who create their free Americas Cardroom account and enter bonus code CRYPTOCOMPARE will qualify for a 3-part Welcome Package including up to $1,000 free on their first deposit, 20 days of free cash up to $50, and access to at least one New Depositor Freeroll.
