Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $8,496.190 representing a gain of 2.94% in the last 24 hours. More than $400 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 18.9% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 55% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 1.21% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $712.62, with over $150 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 21.4% market share of the daily trading volume.

Nokia Is Partnering with a Crypto Startup to Build an IoT Network

According to an official blog post, Nokia has announced a partnership with Streamr, a cryptocurrency startup that tokenizes data collected by Internet-connected devices. Nokia aims to build a project that collects Internet of Things (IoT) data and integrate it with the Streamr Data Marketplace allowing users to monetize it. Harry Kuosa, Nokia's 5G Marketing representative, stated:

"Nokia community hosted networks can now collect IoT data and integrate it with the Streamr Data Marketplace. This capability allows users to publish their data and sell it — either as individual users or as participants in IoT Data Community Projects."

Santander Conducts Proxy Voting Blockchain Pilot at AGM

Banco Santander has completed a blockchain pilot to improve the process of proxy voting during annual general meetings (AGMs). According to an official blog post, this blockchain-based solution aims to improve the transparency in the global proxy voting system, while also increasing security, efficiency, and analytics. Sergio Gamez, Global Head of Shareholders and Investor Relations at Santander, said:

"It is very important to ensure the participation by investors and shareholders, and this year using blockchain technology for the institutional vote has been a great help in terms of transparency and agility across the vote life cycle."

Coincheck to Delist Privacy Coins Monero, Zcash, and Dash

Cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck will delist trading pairs for Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), and Dash (DASH). The reason behind this decision is related to the less traceable transactions of these privacy-centric cryptocurrencies, which don't comply with the Anti-money laundering regulations (AML).
