Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,547 representing a gain of 1.75% in the last 24 hours. More than $310 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 13% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/KRW pair represents a 25% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 4.26% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $221, with over $140 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 15% market share of the daily trading volume.

Blockstream Launches New Block Explorer for Bitcoin Blockchain and Liquid Sidechain

Yesterday, blockchain startup Blockstream launched a new block explorer tool, located at blockstream.info, for the Bitcoin blockchain and the Liquid sidechain. Blockstream was working on a tool called the "Liquid Block Explorer", which was going to be "a website to visually examine Liquid’s blockchain data and cross-check transactions", later, Blockstream decided that the dark-themed user interface it had developed for this tool could also benefit the much wider community that uses the Bitcoin blockchain. The announcement was made on Twitter as follows:

Wallet Provider Blockchain Launching "Largest Airdrop in the History of Crypto"

Yesterday, cryptocurrency wallet provider Blockchain announced that it is launching the "largest airdrop in the history of crypto", with $125 million in Stellar Lumens (XLM), to be distributed to Blockchain wallet users. Peter Smith, the CEO of Blockchain, announced the news on Twitter:

"Excited to add #XLM to the @blockchain wallet today and announce a $125M airdrop - the biggest digital giveaway ever. Blockchain Startup Attest Building Wallet for Storing Digital Versions of Government and Corporate ID Cards

Last Monday, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, better known simply as "Deloitte", and Attest, Inc. announced via a press release a new collaboration "to assist government clients with digital identity solutions". Attest is currently building two products: "Attest Wallet" "a more secure and efficient way for consumers to manage and share personal data" and "Attest Enterprise" a "powerful and secure, user-centric identity management toolkit for governments and businesses". Cab Morris, attest's CEO stated:

“I wouldn’t say it’s a replacement but a truly digital version of your social security card, your driver’s license, your health records. But one that allows you to cryptographically authenticate to a variety of different service providers in a way that you would typically with Facebook Connect or Google Sign-in.”

Ether is up 2.46% against Bitcoin at Ƀ0.03373 per Ether and up 4.26% against the dollar to $221.15 with average volume Ƀ44.4k on the ETH/BTC pair.

Bitcoin Cash is up 10.23% to Ƀ0.09645 with volumes of Ƀ54.5k and up 11.96% against the dollar at $631.65.

Ripple is down 2.4% to Ƀ0.0000816 with volumes of Ƀ36.5k and down 0.74% against the dollar at $0.5357.

Zcash is up 1.96% for the day to Ƀ0.01976 per ZEC and up 3.58% against the dollar to $130 with an average volume of Ƀ4.9k for the 24 hour period.

Litecoin is up 1.95% against the dollar for the day at $55.53 and up 0.13% to Ƀ0.008483 on volumes of Ƀ13.9k.

Dash is down 1.67% at Ƀ0.02533 with Ƀ12.1k volume and down 0.12% against the dollar at $166.78.

Iota is down 0.19% to Ƀ0.00007783 on Ƀ574.856 volume.

Ether Classic is up 0.2% to Ƀ0.001483 with volumes of Ƀ11.8k and up 2.09% against the dollar at $9.76.

Monero is up 0.29% against the dollar at $113.4 and down 1.43% against Bitcoin at Ƀ0.01721 on volumes of Ƀ1.7k.
