Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,491 representing a loss of 0.79% in the last 24 hours. More than $290 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 14% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/KRW pair represents a 27% share.

The Ethereum price has dropped 3.13% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $214, with over $70 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 10% market share of the daily trading volume.

Poloniex Launches Pre-Fork Trading Support for BCH Hard Fork

Yesterday, Circle's cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex has announced a solution for those customers that can't wait until November 15th for the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) hard fork ("Planned Network Upgrade"), it is allowing customers to trade Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHABC) and Bitcoin Cash SV (BCHSV) tokens right now. Poloniex does not want to take sides, and furthermore it wants to allow members of the crypto community to show which variant of BCH they support before the hard fork takes place, they stated:

"We believe the responsible thing for an exchange to do is remain neutral, and we want to empower the community to demonstrate their support through trading activity. "

Mauritius' Financial Services Commission to Issue Custodian License For CryptoCurrencies

Last Tuesday, the Financial Services Commission (FSC), a regulatory body that monitors all financial services in Mauritius, except for global business and banking related transactions, has released a draft that recommends regulatory guidelines for the island nation’s "Custodian Services (Cryptocurrencies) Licence". FSC will require local companies applying for the crypto custodian license to comply with the country’s strict regulatory policies. They stated:

"[T]he holder of the custodian services (Cryptocurrencies) licence will also be considered as a “financial institution” under the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2002 (the “FIAMLA”) and will be required to adhere to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (“AMLCFT”) related laws, regulations and codes AMLCFT in Mauritius including the FSC Code on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, the FIAMLA and regulations made there under."

Lykke & Nxchange to Launch New Tokenized Securities Exchange

Last Monday, according to a press release published by the Lykke project, Lykke, a Switzerland-based developer of a blockchain-enabled ”global marketplace for the free exchange of financial assets”, and Nxchange, a “regulated market / multilateral trading facility-licensed” Dutch securities exchange platform, have partnered to launch a Europe-based regulated tokenized securities exchange. According to the announcement the partnership will involve Lykke becoming an equity shareholder in Nxchange. They stated:

"Lykke will become an equity shareholder in Nxchange in return for contributing investment capital, blockchain technology, crypto asset trading infrastructure and financial engineering expertise to the partnership. (...)"
