Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,463 representing a loss of 0.03% in the last 24 hours. More than $120 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 10% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/KRW pair represents a 24% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 0.3% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $203, with over $20 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 5% market share of the daily trading volume.

Microsoft Excel Plugin to Allow Bitcoin Payments via Lightning Network

Last week, Pierre Rochard, an independent Bitcoin (BTC) advisor for institutional investors, claimed to have developed a Microsoft Excel plugin that enables users to make BTC payments from the spreadsheet using Lightning Network (LN). On Twitter, Rochard stated: 

"The LND node software now runs from *within* the Excel plugin. With neutrino, that means that a Windows + Excel user can be making and receiving LN payments with a few clicks. (...)"

Paris-based Financia Business School Accepts Bitcoin Payments

Recently, Financia Business School, an institute of higher learning in Paris that focuses on finance and business studies, started offering study programs and courses on blockchain technology. The degree-granting institute is also the first school in France to accept bitcoin (BTC) payments. On their official website they stated:

"The first school to accept Bitcoin payments!"

Ukraine Plans to Legalize Cryptocurrencies by 2021

According to a press release published on the Ministry’s website last week, the government of Ukraine aims to legalize cryptocurrencies within three years, in a move that’s reportedly being made as part of a new public policy developed by the country’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The document notes that Ukraine is “among the top 10 countries in the number of virtual currency users”. The release adds:

"The state in turn lacks taxes and foreign exchange earnings. It has no opportunity to carry out financial monitoring in this area due to lack of statistical information. As a result, foreign investments and opportunities for creating new high-paying jobs are being lost."
