Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,282 representing a loss of 3.15% in the last 24 hours. More than $410 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 26% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 14% share.

The Ethereum price has dropped 9.16% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $197, with over $310 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 26% market share of the daily trading volume.

Tezos Mainnet Goes Live, XTZ Gets Listed on Bitfinex

Yesterday, the Tezos Foundation announced that the Tezos Mainnet had gone live. Tezos is a blockchain platform for smart contracts and decentralized apps where stakeholders are able to vote on changes to the protocol. In addition to the launch of the network, Bitfinex announced yesterday that it would integrate Tezos token (XTZ) into its exchange, with pairs for USD and BTC. The Tezos Foundation used their official website to make the announcement about the Tezos Mainnet:

"As a result, we now consider the beta period concluded, and while active development still continues, we are pleased to regard the Tezos network as the mainnet."

TRON Foundation Burns Fifth Batch of ERC20 Tokens

Recently, the TRON Foundation said in a blog post they burned around 4.9 billion TRON ERC20 tokens. According to a TRON blog post from the13th of September, the TRON Foundation has burned 4,917,487,036.059613 ERC20 tokens. The latest burn, which was intended to help smooth the transition away from the Ethereum blockchain, now represents the fifth time the company has burned old ERC20 tokens. On 23rd of August, TRON Foundation stated: 

"Since the TRON Independence Group activated the TRON MainNet on June 25 (SGT), all the 27 GRs (Genesis Representatives) have been replaced by 27 SRs (Super Representatives), and TRON has officially entered its Constitutional phase of decentralized autonomous democracy. As all the 27 SRs have been elected, we are seeing more heated discussions about the TRON Network and TRX burns in the community."

Bitfinex Launches Decentralized Ethereum Trading Platform ‘Ethfinex’

Bitfinex has launched an Ethereum-based hybrid cryptocurrency exchange called Ethfinex Trustless to give traders more security, privacy and control of their funds. On their official blog, they claim that "with Ethfinex Trustless there are no signups, no deposit or withdrawal delays and no sacrificing custody of your tokens. Users retain full control of their funds throughout the entirety of the trading experience whilst executing trades against a highly liquid off-chain order book to ensure an entirely seamless trading experience". Ethfinex Trustless stated:

"We’re launching the first trading solution designed to empower community members and return them control, without having to sacrifice the benefits which centralised cryptocurrency exchanges provide: Ethfinex Trustless."
