Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $5,215 representing a loss of 0.42% in the last 24 hours. More than $280M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing an 11.1% share of the global daily volume. The pair with most volume was the BTC/USDT with a 74.5% share.

The Ethereum price has dropped 2.19% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $176.8, with over $130M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 5% market share of the daily trading volume. The largest ETH trading pair was the ETH/USDT with a 49.5% share.

Opera Releases New Browser With Built-In Crypto Wallet

Web browser Opera is releasing a new browser with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The development was announced in a press release published today. Opera’s new browser Opera 60 (codenamed Reborn 3) features a native cryptocurrency dubbed Opera Wallet and a Web 3 explorer, which enables users to conduct transactions and interact with the blockchain-based internet, also known as Web 3. The release further explains:

“In practice, whenever they need to identify themselves to a Web 3 website or sign a transaction on the blockchain, users get a notification on their smartphone. They can confirm it in the same way they unlock their system, using, for example, facial recognition or their fingerprint.”

Western Union Integrates With Crypto Wallet to Expand Remittances

Money transfer giant Western Union has teamed up with blockchain startup Coins.ph to enable residents of the Philippines to more easily receive cash remittances. The service aims to offer “quick and convenient access to remittances, in urban and remote underserved areas,” Coins.ph said, adding that linking with Western Union’s digital and retail networks enables customers to receive payments from virtually all nations and territories worldwide. Molly Shea, senior vice president and general manager of Western Union, said:

“With this collaboration with Coins.ph, we are delighted to offer customers in the Philippines with an unmatched depth of services and capabilities, and convenience right at their fingertips.”

Coinbase Pro Lists EOS, Augur’s REP and MakerDAO’s MKR Tokens

Yesterday, Coinbase announced in an official blog post that it is adding EOS, Augur’s REP and MakerDAO’s MKR to its professional trading platform. While EOS and REP both have Dollar, Euro and Bitcoin trading pairs, MKR can only be bought using Bitcoin or USDC, a stablecoin issued by Coinbase and Circle through a joint venture. The announcement reads:

"Trading of EOS and REP will soon be available in all jurisdictions supported by Coinbase Pro, with the exception of New York State. MKR will be available in all Coinbase Pro-supported jurisdictions outside the US. Additional regions may be added for each asset at a later date."
