At the time of writing, bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) are trading at $9,929.9 (+2.3%) and $213.1 (+0.4%), respectively. As for the MVIS CryptoCompare Digital Assets 10 Index, it is currently tracking at 3,615.5 (-0.9%). After five days trading under $10,000, BTC/USD once more rose above the psychologically-significant level, only to correct back into four-figure territory.

Physically-Settled Bitcoin Futures Contracts Go Live in U.S.

LedgerX—a U.S.-regulated bitcoin derivatives exchange and clearinghouse—announced Wednesday it had launched the first-ever physically-settled bitcoin futures contracts, beating the likes of Bakkt and ErisX.

The opportunity to purchase bitcoin futures contracts—be it with U.S. dollars or the bitcoin cryptocurrency itself—through LedgerX is available to retail and institutional investors alike.

LedgerX’s milestone launch comes after having announced just over a month ago the obtainment of a designated contract market (DCM) license from the U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CTFC).

Kraken Exchange Acquires U.S. Crypto Startup Interchange

Longstanding cryptoasset exchange Kraken announced the acquisition of Interchange, a leading portfolio reconciliation tool for institutional traders. The deal will see Interchange’s team—which is led by cryptocurrency veterans Dan Held and Clark Moody—take up roles within Kraken.

Interchange was founded in late 2018 following a merger between institutional-focused Picks & Shovels and CoinVantage, a former subsidiary of accounting firm MG Stover.

“What’s great about Interchange is that it makes accounting, trade reconciliation and reporting so much easier for institutions and individuals trading on Kraken,” chief executive of Kraken, Jesse Powell, stated in a press release published Wednesday, “so our clients can stay focused on tapping the tremendous value that cryptocurrency markets offer.”
