Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $3,630 representing a loss of 0.22% in the last 24 hours. More than $110M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 12% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents an 8% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 2.92% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $120, with over $80M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 9% market share of the daily trading volume.

Malicious Android App Created to Steal Cryptocurrency

Last Friday, Cybersecurity firm ESET has issued a warning against a malicious app available on the Google Play Store that was reportedly stealing users’ cryptocurrency. As explained in an official blog post published by WeLiveSecurity, a new type of malware program called ”Clipper” had reportedly been “intercepting” the clipboard content of crypto users and then replacing the user’s address with one belonging to the attacker. WeLiveSecurity stated:

"For security reasons, addresses of online cryptocurrency wallets are composed of long strings of characters. Instead of typing them, users tend to copy and paste the addresses using the clipboard. A type of malware, known as a 'clipper', takes advantage of this"

A Major Philippine Bank Just Launched Crypto ATMs

Last week, one of the largest commercial banks in the Philippines, the Union Bank of the Philippines has launched the country’s first crypto ATM. The bank said in an official announcement that it has continuously collaborated with the central bank throughout the past several years and the recent launch of its crypto ATM has been approved already. The UnionBank stated:

"In the bank’s continued quest to cater to the evolving needs and tastes of customers, including clients who use virtual currency, the ATM will provide these clients an alternative channel to convert their pesos to virtual currency and vice versa"

KuCoin Adds Credit Card Purchases for Major Cryptos

Recently, Singapore-based digital asset exchange, KuCoin announced on a Twitter post that it has added a new feature for purchasing cryptocurrencies with credit or debit cards. According to the announcement, the new payment option has been introduced through a partnership with Simplex and traders may now use their bank-issued debit or credit cards to buy major cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC), and XRP. KuCoin exchange stated:

"KuCoin is now cooperating with Simplex to provide and enable merchants to purchase cryptocurrencies with worldwide debit and credit card."

Ether is up 3.17% against Bitcoin at Ƀ0.03317 per Ether and up 2.92% against the dollar to $120.62 with average volume Ƀ77.9k on the ETH/BTC pair.

Litecoin is up 2.05% against the dollar for the day at $44.32 and up 2.01% to Ƀ0.0122 on volumes of Ƀ60.8k.

EOS is up 1.84% to Ƀ0.0007529 on Ƀ36.5k volume.

Ripple is up 0.01% to Ƀ0.00008332 with volumes of Ƀ23.7k and down 0.36% against the dollar at $0.3026.

Bitcoin Cash is up 8.54% to Ƀ0.03722 with volumes of Ƀ8.5k and down 0.95% against the dollar at $122.79.

Zcash is up 0.66% for the day to Ƀ0.01364 per ZEC and up 0.44% against the dollar to $50.16 with an average volume of Ƀ8.4k for the 24 hour period.

Dash is up 5.85% at Ƀ0.02118 with Ƀ7.4k volume and up 5.4% against the dollar at $77.69.
