Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $3,862 representing a gain of 2.74% in the last 24 hours. More than $175 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 16.32% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 10.21% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 8.8% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $148, with over $110 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has an 11.7% market share of the daily trading volume.

Nvidia Facing Lawsuit for ‘False Statements’ on Crypto Mining Revenue

A class action lawsuit has been filed against tech giant Nvidia by the Schall Law Firm. The plaintiffs are accusing the company of producing misleading statements about how it can help mitigate the effects of the reduced demand of GPUs for the cryptocurrency market. The lawsuit document claims:

“Based on these facts, the Company’s public statements were false and materially misleading throughout the class period. When the market learned the truth about NVIDIA, investors suffered damages.”

Japan’s DMM Exiting Crypto Mining Business

Japanese e-commerce giant DMM.com is reportedly exiting the cryptocurrency mining business due to “deteriorating profitability”. Keishi Kameyama, the founder of DMM, stated that going forward the company will focus on the exchange business and blockchains. The company further stated:

“The withdrawal process such as the sale of the machines will go over to the first half of 2019.”

Fortnite Store Accepts Crypto – But Only Monero

Gamers can now purchase merchandise for the blockbuster online video game Fortnite using the cryptocurrency Monero (XMR). Bitcoin payments have not been accepted, however, reportedly due to privacy concerns. While Fortnite did not make an official announcement, Monero developer Riccardo Spagni excitedly shared the news on Twitter:
