Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $4,090 representing a gain of 1.41% in the last 24 hours. More than $125M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 10% share of the global daily volume. The pair with most volume was the BTC/USDT with a 77% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 2.55% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $142, with over $30M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 3.4% market share of the daily trading volume. The largest ETH trading pair was the ETH/USDT with a 53.6% share.

TRON Acquires Very First Blockchain App Store: CoinPlay

Tron, one of the world’s largest networks for building and deploying decentralized applications, has made what appears to be their most significant long-term acquisition since acquiring BitTorrent last year. Announced on the official blog on March, 28th the post states that TRON has acquired the “very first global blockchain app store,” called CoinPlay. Explaining why the deal was made, Tron’s official blog first states that the crypto platform’s team members remain committed to their initial mission statement: “building the infrastructure for a truly decentralized Internet.” Tron’s blog post explains:

"CoinPlay positions itself as a blockchain application store that aims to offer the most comprehensive, suitable and updated blockchain apps. Currently, popular [distributed ledger technology (DLT)-based] apps are often hard to find at conventional app stores, and it is difficult to screen the source for safe download."

KuCoin Enables Buying Crypto With Visa and Mastercard

Last Wednesday, Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin announced that it had partnered with Simplex to offer users the possibility to purchase several cryptocurrencies via credit and debit cards (Visa and Mastercard). The announcement reads:

"We are delighted to announce that KuCoin has partnered with Simplex to re-enable users to purchase cryptocurrencies using Visa and MasterCard credit cards. This service can be found on the “Assets” page and currently supports the purchasing of BTC, ETH, XRP, BCHABC and LTC with both USD and EUR in over 100 countries."

USStocks Token Lets Investors Access US Stock Market With Crypto

Decentralized financial contracts platform UMA has partnered with Decentralized Autonomous Organization MakerDAO, to release a token tied to the United States stock market, UMA announced in a blog post last Wednesday. The ERC-20 token, entitled USStocks, seeks to offer investors access to the U.S. stock market using cryptocurrencies. Users can purchase the token using MakerDAO’s own USD-backed stablecoin, Dai (DAI). The blog post explained:

“USStocks is an ERC20 token representing synthetic ownership of an index of the 500 largest exchange-listed US stocks. This means that anybody with access to the internet and digital money can participate in the US stock market."
