Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $5,682 representing a gain of 4.41% in the last 24 hours. More than $240M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 9.8% share of the global daily volume. The pair with most volume was the BTC/USDT with a 78.3% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 0.78% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $163.8, with over $45M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 3% market share of the daily trading volume. The largest ETH trading pair was the ETH/USDT with a 49.75% share.

Qtum Launches Its New Developer Suite on Google Cloud

Yesterday, Singapore-based Qtum Chain Foundation ("Qtum") "unveiled a full suite of blockchain developer tools in partnership with Google Cloud. Qtum's blog post says that these "free-to-use tools are designed to give developers and non-technical users alike, a simple and cost-effective way of launching nodes and building on the Qtum blockchain." Miguel Palencia, Qtum's Chief Information Officer, stated:

"Google Cloud is the perfect partner to help us make the blockchain ecosystem simpler and more intuitive. Where launching a node was once an intensive and complex process, Qtum’s new developer suite introduces helpful shortcuts and tools to make it faster and easier. With a more accessible technology, we hope to open up and expand the Qtum community to include people with a broader range of experience — from experts to the everyday user.”

Microsoft Makes Quorum the Preferred Blockchain for Azure Cloud

Microsoft will promote JPMorgan Chase’s Quorum blockchain to the global tech giant’s business customers, the companies announced yesterday. As a result, Quorum “will become the first distributed ledger platform available through Azure Blockchain Service, enabling J.P. Morgan and Microsoft customers to build and scale blockchain networks in the cloud,” the companies said in a press release. A spokesperson for New York-based JPM said via email:

“Microsoft will drive preference to the Quorum stack for Blockchain applications built on Azure.”

Code For Ethereum’s PoS Blockchain to Be Finalized Next Month

Code for Ethereum’s highly-anticipated Proof-Of-Stake (PoS) blockchain is on course to be finalized next month. In a bi-weekly call between Ethereum developers, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake said that code specifications for the first phase of Ethereum’s transition to a proof-of-stake network were “on track” to be finalized by June 30. Such specifications are effectively blueprints for developers looking to work on Ethereum’s next-generation blockchain. Drake remarked on the call:

“I’ve been continuing to fine comb Phase Zero in preparation for the spec freeze which we’re targeting for the 30th of June. We’re still very much on track. Still, [code] simplifications are coming through which is great and the process of fine combing is also for finding final bugs.”
