BTC/USD was once again tested by the bears last night (UTC), with the trading pair falling under $10,000 for a brief period. If the current daily candle closes red—which it currently looks set to do—then BTC/USD will have fallen on seven of the past eight days.

At the time of writing, bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $10,039.6 (-2.3%) with a daily trusted volume of $2.57 bn. As for ether (ETH) it is trading at $179.9 (-1.4%) with a daily trusted volume of $1.07 bn. The MVIS CryptoCompare Digital Assets 10 Index is currently tracking at 3,195.77 (-1.26%).

Gemini Launches Institutional-Grade Cryptocurrency Custody Solution

Gemini—a cryptocurrency exchange operator and custodian founded by twin brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss—launched on Tuesday Gemini Custody™, an institutional-grade custody solution for the cryptocurrency asset class that is initially supporting 18 cryptocurrencies.

Although Gemini has had custodial services since October 2015, Gemini Custody™ offers significantly more benefits to customers, such as the ability to instantly trade custodied cryptocurrency on Gemini without waiting for it to be transferred out of cold storage.

Blockstack Raises $15.5 Million From Historic Token Offering

Blockstack PBC—a public benefit corporation focused on supporting the development of the decentralized Blockstack computing network—announced Tuesday in a blog post written by co-founder Muneeb Ali that its historic token offering concluded on September 9.

The 60-day-long token sale was the first of its kind to ever be approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). According to a September 9 filing in the SEC’s Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval (EDGAR) system, Blockstack offered “an aggregate of 74,333,480 Stacks Tokens” in exchange for “total proceeds of $15.5 million.”

A separate, still-active offering of Stacks Tokens exclusively to non-U.S. persons under Reg S has so far seen Blockstack receive $7.6 million for the delivery of 30,560,000 Stacks Tokens. The EDGAR filing also disclosed that Blockstack is in discussions with international investors over the prospect of another offering worth “approximately $5 million to $10 million.”

CasperLabs Closes $14.5 Million Series A Round

Blockchain technology startup CasperLabs announced Tuesday that it closed a $14.5 million Series A financing round led by Acuitas Group Holdings, an investment vehicle owned by financier Terren Peizer. According to a press release, Arrington XRP Capital, Consensus Capital, and Axiom Holdings Group were among CasperLabs’ other Series A backers.

Earlier this year, CasperLabs made headlines when confirmation emerged that one of Ethereum’s premier researchers in Vlad Zamfir was joining the startup as lead consensus protocol architect. Both Zamfir and CasperLabs continue to work closely with Ethereum researchers.
