Evolve Funds Files for Ether ETF with Canadian Regulators

Evolve Funds, the firm that won approval from Canadian regulators for its bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) last month, has filed to list a product based on the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization ether (ETH).

The proposed ETF is similar to its bitcoin product, with the Cidel Trust Company and Gemini serving as custodian and subcustodian respectively. If approved, the ether ETF would trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), where a growing number of cryptocurrency products are being listed.

Raj Lala, president and CEO of Evolve, said in a press statement:

"As a leader in disruptive innovation, we look forward to providing Canadian investors with access to another leading cryptocurrency through an ETF structure."

The firm’s bitcoin ETF was approved on February 16, becoming the second bitcoin ETF to go live in Canada. The filing comes as other firms put forward similar filings to list ether ETFs of their own.
