Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $7,748 representing a gain of 4.57% in the last 24 hours. More than $550 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 10.4% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents a 52.7% share.

The Ethereum price has risen 0.41% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $464, with over $100 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 12.6% market share of the daily trading volume.

MyEtherWallet Adds ETH Credit Card Purchases After New Partnership

Last Thursday, Ethereum wallet MyEtherWallet (MEW) has announced a new partnership with Simplex to let users buy Ethereum (ETH) using their credit cards. According to an official blog post, the regulated fintech company Simplex has integrated its AI-based technology with MEW so anyone can easily buy ETH with credit cards, as stated by MyEtherWallet:

"For existing users, we are simplifying the entire cryptocurrency-buying process, while making it instant and secure. You can now completely bypass cryptocurrency exchanges if you wish."

Crypto Exchange Coinbase Establishes Political Action Committee (PAC)

According to recently revealed documents, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has established a political action committee (PAC) in an attempt to access to the politicians that have substantial influence over financial regulatory policy, however, the PAC hasn't raised any money. While forming a PAC is an industry first, Coinbase has recently signed up a $20 billion hedge fund for its institutional brokerage service, which counts as a major step to secure its long-term future.

Samsung Stores in Three Baltic Countries Start Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments

Last Friday, Samsung has started accepting cryptocurrency payments in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania via CopPay, a cryptocurrency payment processor. In accordance with a blog post made by CopPay, Samsung is now accepting Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Dash, Ripple, NEM, and Steem in its Baltic region stores. An excerpt from the post reads:

"Customers in Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and Kaunas can buy Samsung smartphones, tablets, laptops, TV-sets, and more with digital money."
