Market Update

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $6,433 representing a gain of 0.93% in the last 24 hours. More than $180 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 10% share of the global daily volume. The BTC/KRW pair represents a 36% share.

The Ethereum price has increased 3.93% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $208, with over $100 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 13% market share of the daily trading volume.

Hodl Hodl Launches First Ever OTC Platform Offering Non-Custodial Services to BTC Traders

Last Friday, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange, Hodl Hodl, which does not hold customers’ funds, has announced the launch of an over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk. The new crypto exchange has been developed and deployed through a partnership with European Union (EU) licensed brokerage firm, Tenbagger. Hodl Hodl is the first crypto exchange to launch an OTC platform that offers non-custodial escrow services to BTC traders. Explaining why their new service is important, Hodl Hodl’s management stated:

"There has been a vibrant OTC Bitcoin trading market operating in parallel to the existing exchanges, but none of them are offering non-custodial escrow services for cryptocurrencies which would eliminate the risk of losing funds."

Azerbaijan to Adopt Blockchain-Based Solutions for Its Justice System

Last Friday, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Internet Forum, Osman Gunduz, announced that the nation will begin the implementation of blockchain-based technology on the Ministry of Justice’s information systems and registries. Becoming the next nation in a growing list of those looking to adopt blockchain solutions. Gunduz stated:

“The agency currently provides over 30 electronic services, and also there are about 15 information systems and registries. The registers of electronic notary, electronic courts; penitentiary service, the information systems of non-governmental organizations, the register of population, etc. can be mentioned. The planned project entitled as ‘Mobile notary office’, which provides for the accumulation of all notarial documents in one case, has seemed interesting.”

Dash Launches Text-Based Crypto Payment Service in Venezuela

Last week, crypto project Dash has announced the launch of Dash Text, an SMS-based cryptocurrency transaction service for Venezuelan users, as it builds on its already strong presence in the crypto dependent country. The company said that Dash Text eliminates the need for Venezuelan users to possess smartphones and internet access to carry out crypto transactions, which has historically been a significant barrier to adoption in the impoverished country suffering from hyperinflation. Speaking about the unique demand that gave rise to Dash Text, Bradley Zastrow, Global Head of Business Development at Dash Core, stated:

“Venezuelans living abroad send an estimated $2 billion USD back home in remittances. This process often takes too long and costs too much, making it a huge pain point for many users. With Dash Text, we are providing real solutions that address real problems. People need easy and cheap ways to send money home, and we’ve done it in a way that expands the Dash ecosystem to those without smartphones! Dash Text offers the perfect solution to ensure that everyone can become part of the Dash family, regardless of what phone people own.”

The Malta Blockchain Summit: Blockchain Hackathon and two-day ICO pitching session

In partnership with CryptoFriends, the Malta Blockchain Summit staged a huge Blockchain Hackathon and two-day ICO pitching session

The global blockchain community met again in Malta for the Malta Blockchain Summit between November 1st and 2nd. The summit brought together 7,000 delegates, 100 speakers and 150 partners from all around the world.

In partnership with CryptoFriends, the Malta Blockchain Summit hosted Blockchain Hackathon and two-day ICO pitchingn session.
At the Malta Blockchain Hackathon up to 200 participants took their chance to impress some of the best in the business and to win a 50k prize. A number of teams of developers gathered at the Summit to produce a dApp, or other smart contract implementation on the chosen platform using both decentralised and distributed solutions. The winners were selected by Hackathon judges, including Scott Stornetta, Charles Hokinson, Ilya Smagin, and Lucas Park. Here are the results:

• 3rd place - Team: Tensegrity

The ICO-pitching session was held on November 1st and 2nd and featured 30 ICO projects. At the end of the first day Rise Token startup took the 1st place. AE Token took the 2nd place.
