COMBO was previously known as COCOS-BCX. The rebranding was completed on April 11, 2023. The name change was in line with the company's enhanced focus on creating the next generation of decentralized gaming infrastructure. The new name, COMBO, represents a sense of powerful "combos", a mission to thrive together with ecosystem partners in web3 gaming, and a goal of mutual benefit for all parties involved.

The token swap was also completed on April 11, 2023. COCOS tokens were swapped for COMBO tokens at a 1:1 ratio. All COCOS tokens that were held on exchanges were automatically swapped, and users who held COCOS tokens in their own wallets were able to swap them through the COMBO website.

The rebranding and token swap were part of a larger effort by COMBO to position itself as a leading provider of scaling solutions for Web3 game development.
